I see what you mean, Gordon. I'm a little less exasperated since my last post. I've done everything I can for now so I'll wait for their next move.
I wouldn't wish this on anyone. What can be done to avoid it happening in the first place? Should we always phone up a few days after sending back assessment forms to find out if/when appointments have been booked? Is a post box or collection from the depot viable? I'm trying to think of a way to prevent letters going missing or to find out about appointments without just relying on the post.

There is little that the claimant can do. for ESA there could be months between the ESA50 being returned and an appointment being issued and it really is not practical to keep phoning Maximus for an update as they only have to give seven days written notice.

I received a letter accepting my reason for not attending. I'm so relieved after all that worry. Thanks for all your help.
The letter states that I'll be contacted about a new assessment date. It doesn't say who or where I can contact to find out if an appointment has been booked. I'm worried in case something goes wrong again.
It also states that if I travel by taxi to the appointment I need to send them a letter from my GP in advance explaining why I need one otherwise I can't claim the cost of the taxi. I never had to do this for the PIP assessment. Is this mandatory?

Sorry, I forgot to ask, I still want to have a recorded assessment because I didn't agree with what the PIP assessor wrote and I want to make sure that I have evidence of what I said at this ESA assessment. Can I still request one after missing an assessment or will it affect their decision to assess me?
