PIP ending this summer

PIP ending this summer was created by JRW
I have received a letter from DWP reminding me that my current PIP claim will end in the Summer. "you'll need to make a new claim". I thought if you already had PIP you would automatically get a renewal form so am puzzled why I need to make a new claim. I was awarded 4 years by the court. My disability hasn't changed. Also it says phone to claim but my disability means I can't use the phone. Thought there was alternative ways of contacting DWP now?
Thanks

The DWP seem to be taking a strange position with some renewals and are treating them as requiring a new claim, the situation is no different from what it was under DLA and there is no reason why they should treat PIP differently, but they are.

Can you get someone to phone on your behalf? Everyone who has attempted to start a claim in paper has had severe problems in doing and at best has suffered significant delays.

My question is why are they asking me to make a new claim? My disability is one of those which doesn't improve, doesn't require continual medical review, so I have very little to use for evidence for a new claim. Thank you for your help.

It doesn't really matter whether they call it a new claim or a renewal, you still need to complete the form as if it is a new claim, as there is no guarantee that those assessing you will refer to any of the information from the last time you were assessed.

Providing you can show that the evidence you submitted last time is still applicable to your conditions as they are now, which from your post seems to be the case, then you can re-send the information that you last used.
