PIP MAobility points question was created by Pip
I have a letter from my doctor saying that due to 'Cognitive Impairment' I can not plan a route and I can not undertake an unfamiliar journey alone.

Is this different to the 'psyological distress' in PIP mobility points 1c?

'Due to reasons other than psychological distress, cannot plan the route of a journey.'

Yes the two are different. |You need to explain why you cannot reliably complete 1c, 1d and/or 1f.

Sorry I need to be sure,

'Psychological distress' is different to 'cognitive impairment'

My SW thinks I should go for 1.e 'can not undertake any journey due to overwhelming psychological distress.'

I'm not sure whether to write the 1.c OR 1.e in my 'reason for late appeal' in my SSCS1 form.

Both would be enough points but I don't know which to go for,

Pleas help.

Was the Decision you are appealing made before or after 16 March 2017?

If it was before then then changes to the PIP Descriptors do not apply to your appeal and he phrase "psychological distress" is not relevant to Descriptors (c), (d) and (f).

I can't advise whether you should opt for (c) or (e), but the former is almost certainly going to be treated as an issue of cognitive or sensory impairment and the latter will be down mental health conditions such as Agoraphobia or Social Anxiety which prevent you leaving your home.

Also for (e) the Descriptor uses the word "cannot", you may be able to argue that this does not mean never, but the standard I would expect you will need to meet will be far higher than the normal majority of days.

As to the two phrases being different, asked and answered!
