ESA -reassessment was created by MrFibro
Hi to all,

Having sent off my esa renewal form last april 2016. Ive finally having my esa re-assessment next thursday.

All this waiting has caused me great anxiety and has effected my already chronic depression almost to breaking point.

i have been planning on topping myself once again, after a few failed attempts over recent years.

After having an appointment to see my gp last friday, and after a somewhat 20 minute discussion with him about my now mental state not alone my physical disabilities.

My doctor put me on an emergency list. in other words the mental health nurse contacted me and we talked somewhat about my mental state!

To cut a long story short shes now given me an appointment to see her, and to give me help and support with my mental illness.

I have had very little help from the mental health in ther past. i was being forced by a therapist to do group sessions, but i cant do this as it causes me more distress.

I explained to the mental health nurse whose going to deal with me, that i'm being reassessed next thursday. and that i'm more than worried that the support from the mental health may possible carry no weight at the assessment.

As the assessment/ or the horse would had bolted, as the mental health nurse cant get to me not until mid may.

my question is.......

should i notify the assessor about this?
will the letter for the mental health appointment be of value as evidence im going to be seen by a specialist nurse?

As the above is a deterioration as in regards to my health!

thanks for your reading cheers

Mr F

I would write a short letter about all of the problems that you have had and especially the thoughts about suicide, also the immediate referral to the mental health team.

Take a copy with you to the assessment and ask the assessor to read it and include it in your file before the return it to the DWP, the DWP guidance requires them to do this.

I would also send a copy to the DWP office dealing with your ESA claim, marked for the attention of the Decision Maker, the address will be on any of the letters that you have received from them about your ESA,

Your letter can also include any other changes in your conditions and how they affect you that have occurred since you sent your ESA50, try and use the same format as the form to make it easier for those looking at your claim to relate it to the original information.

Sending Documents to the DWP

FAO Gordon,

Hi Gordon i'm a bit worried about me submitting new additional evidence as in regards to my next weeks ESA RE-ASSESSMENT.

My concern is this.... the original esa50 form was sent out to me a year ago. and only a couple of weeks ago was i called up for re-assessment.

so i'm quite worried about the fact, that giving new evidence on the day of my assessment and or sending a copy of that evidence, would in fact penalize me if thats the correct word.

As the DWP may consider this as changes in my circumstances, and they could stop my benefits?

as over the last 12 months my medications have increased immensely, especialy pain management + anti-depressants.

and also signifcant changes to both my physical + mental health.

The DWP may possible say i should had notified them of a change?

but i find its not a change for the better!
but a change for the worse right!

Should i need to worry myself over this gordon.

Additional to this i have drafted out an 8 page letter going into detail about such changes both with my physical + mental health. and also my gp refering me to the mental health team etc.

i have gone into quite some detail as i find not enough detail can affect my scoring if you know what i mean.

anyway i appreciate your views on this matter and look forward to your reply

cheers

Mr F

The DWP are really not bothered by a claimant failing to notify them of a deterioration in their conditions, after all, it is only the claimant that potentially loses out by not receiving a higher award.

Also, if you do not include the information how can they properly assess you!

Hi Gordon,

Thanks for your reply, your reply makes sense. i didnt see it that way at all. i was always under the impression that id have to notify of any changes in my health. hence being a change in circumstances.

* Ive managed to compile a 10 page letter giving update relevant evidence as in regards to the re-assessment due next week.

Its broken down into physical and mental health stages. explaining in detail how the changes have affected me. also included will be appointments to see gp & mental nurse + current medications and a list of all the adaptions i have at home and the aids i use for my disabilities.

fingers xrossed hey.. i wont hold me breath.

hoping my letter may give a stay of execution, if not it will be read by a compassionate assessor with empathy !!!!!!! and put me in the support group lol

cheers for reading
