Hi I am in urgent help of some advise for my friend if anyone can help I would very much appreciate it.

I have just found out my friend who suffers from degenaerative discs in the spine, neck problems rods and lumber spine problems causing him substanial reduced functional ability and chronic pain so hes on ketamine, has just been told his DLA which hes been claiming for years stops on 17th May due to the fact that hes so poorly mentally and physically,he couldnt fill in his DLA to PIP form as he coundn't cope and he has a history of sucide attempts etc and he is dyslexic and cant read or write.

Am not sure what to advise him as the time to send the form back has long gone and they have extended the deadline twice. Have advised him to try and get an appointment at welfare rights as he has copies of all his medical records but I don't think that the appointment will come soon enought to complete the form and return it before his money stops.

Unfortunately due to my elderly mother breaking her hip at th weekend , I am unable to help him complete the form until I get home in a few weeks and then his money will have stopped and he will be destitute.

Any advise would be helpful as I am panicing now

I'm afraid there is little that can be done in regard to a failure to return the form, especially if there have been multiple extensions already offered.

Do an internet search for "welfare advice" with their postcode. town or county.

They could also try involving their MP but there help will be limited if there is no form to return.

Contacting your MP

Thanks for your reply Gordon, will advise him to go the welfare rights

Can I just ask...would he be able to make a new claim for PiP instead when his money stops or not?

Yes the can make a new claim immediately, but they will need to address the issue of returning the form.
