I was awarded Standard Mobility and Lower Rate Care at my initial assessment in Jan 2016. Since then my circumstances have changed considerably, I now need a full time carer and can only go out when I have someone with me to set up my Mobility Scooter and break it down again when I get to my destination. I would think it would be obvious that I need both the higher rates but am well aware that Assessors are a law unto themselves. Has anyone else applied to increase their awards under similar circumstances and does anyone have any good advice for me. I can no longer do my job as I cannot meet stringent Health and Safety requirements for driving passengers and live in a remote village with no public transport and very limited facilities such as a small shop and a travelling Post Office van. For any other needs I have to have a carer with me. Thank you in anticipation

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

It's unlikely to be that simple!

It is perfectly possible for your conditions to deteriorate but for you not to score the extra points that you need for an Enhanced award, so the first thing you need to do is go through our PIP Claim guide to see if you can meet the higher scoring Descriptors to increase your award.

If you think that you do and you should score yourself conservatively then you should write to the DWP office dealing with your claim to ask for a reassessment due to your deteriorated conditions.

Be aware that this will be a full reassessment of your claim, new PIP2 and a almost certainly a face to face assessment.
