I've posted this separately as a FYI mods please amend as necessary..

I thought I'd share my experience sending an item to the Wolverhampton Post Handling address... The item was urgent so I used the Special Delivery service which has never failed me. On checking tracking on the evening of delivery date, the item still showed as "out for delivery" despite being received! No signature was obtained. Royal Mail agreed that where there is bulk receipt of items, a single signature should be obtained to cover all items, and Royal Mail could provide no explanation for the lack of signature. As the item was neither signed for or marked rejected, the result is "whereabouts unknown" - this is obviously not a good situation for senders.

I immediately called DWP and was fortunately able to get confirmation of receipt, noting of course the name, time and date of call. This might be a random occurrence, however I will not rely on DWP reliably signing for post in future, and will allow a couple of days extra, for curious cases of items becoming mysteriously untraceable ..

Probably also to do with their policy that we are not to send things via recorded/signed for post, only normal post but get proof of posting. It's been on all the forms I've had to do for them.

Maybe as it goes to mail handling place it's so automated there is no human to sign for anything!!

Hi, TheDayToday
A similar thing happened to me. I sent my form back within plenty of time to Wolverhampton Post Handling address. I tracked it and Royal Mail said it was received the following day. However, I then received a letter from DWP saying my form had not been received. I printed off Royal Mail tracking information showing the electronic signature to prove it the signature was more like a symbol than a signature. A manager at DWP said that he couldn't identify who had signed for it. It took DWP nearly two weeks to locate my form after they raised a "task" to locate it. It caused me no end of worry and I thought I was going to have to fill in another form. Apparently, it can take up to two weeks to reach DWP office from post handling section. I don't understand why they have to send out letters saying they haven't received forms when you are still within their timescale and when they know it takes so long to reach them from the post handling section. I think DWP need to address this situation.
