DLA to PIP appeal submission was created by JohnH
HI
I have received my reply to my reconsideration letter and I need to appeal. I am aware that there was a change to getting around and anxiety and psychological distress. This change came into force 16 March 2017.

I use to get FULL Mobility with the DLA and I know it has changed with PIP. My question is if I first had a letter saying I will receive PIP on February 22 2017 and I sent back a mandatory reconsideration letter. Is this date significant and is it before the changes commencing 16 march and will that help my claim relating to psychological distress

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

If the original Decision on your claim was made on 22 February then it was made before the changes and they do not apply to your claim.

The PIP Appeal guide has links to the SSCS1 form that you will need to complete and the Submissions guide has a complete example that you can use to help you fill it in, you do not need to provide detailed reasons at this stage for your request.

Once your appeal is accepted the DWP will prepare their submission to the hearing and send you a copy, whilst you should wait until you receive this to finish and submit your own, you should start to prepare your own case, an increased award will only be made by your showing that you score the extra points for one, so I would start by going back through your PIP2, the assessment report and the PIP Claim guide to see how you might show this is the case.

If you have further questions then please reply to this post and we will do our best to help.

Hi John,

I am in the same boat as you as mine was also before 16th March. I am in the process of appealing. Although I received 10 points for daily living and am worried that they might take some of them away from me.

Do you have any points that you are worried you could lose? It's all very stressful.

Good luck.

Kim
