Just attended transfer assessment where initially i had requested a ground floor assessment after finding out my meeting was on 6th floor.Got phone call same day saying that was fine and was sorted with the assessment centre and still attend same time same place. On arrival was informed they knew nothing about my request but why i needed a ground floor assessment which i said was for health and safety reasons as i use a wheelchair and cannot use stairs in an emergency. Was then informed my assessment would take twice as long as it would have to be a paper assessment so would i change my mind and go to 6th floor.I declined so after puffing and panting at me accepted this and then told me the assessors name and he would be down shortly.Twenty minutes later i was called into a room and it was not a male but a female.I got the impression this was because my original assessor was not capable of doing a paper assessment.Anyway i must say i felt my assessment went as well as i could have expected.I am just concerned they may think i was just being awkward but it was a genuine concern. Will keep my fingers crossed but just wanted people to know my experience.

Thank you for your post. If you saw an assessor then you have not have a paper assessment. :)

Gordon when i mentioned a paper assessment i meant they did not have the pippat available on ground floor so assessor wrote everything down by hand in note form.I was there for over 2 hours and was then informed i would here from dwp in 6 to 8 weeks.Does this mean she would go away and feed all my information into the pippat system or go off her notes alone to assess me.

I'm surprised they did it on paper, home assessments are usually done on a laptop so I can't understand why they would not use one in their own offices.

Was it the day of the virus attack?

I would expect them to enter the information into PIPAT as this is the mechanism for producing the reports.

Gordon thanks for reply but it was not on virus day as i was told if i went upstairs it would be done on pipat and downstairs they had no facility for it and would have to be handwritten and that is why the assessment would take longer.Anyway i will just wait and see how it all pans out and if it does not go my way do you think i may have good grounds at an appeal because of the way the assessment was carried out.
