supporting evidence? was created by vickiyates
Hi. This is my first post so apologies if it rambles on a bit.
I have identical twin sons 22 yr old, both with autism, who have been on DLA since 2011 (middle rate care, lower mobility)
This morning the dreaded PIP letter came for one of them so expecting the other any day now.
I am really worried about being able to get any supporting evidence for the boys. They haven't been to the doctors for ages and don't have any hospital appointment letters ect.
One of them has finished college and is seen by the council autism team and the other is still at college but not seen by any agencies (still waiting !) They both had support throughout the time at college so would a letter from the ASD disability co-coordinator/support workers be relevant. and what would i ask them to include ? ( I know the people very well so this would not be a problem)
Also how do you go about evidencing their difficulties around everyday tasks as surely only me and their dad would see that on a day to day basis, not a doctor or support worker ?
Thanks in advance

It's not unusual for people with life long conditions to lack medical evidence, it's not ideal but there is little that you can do about it.

Your best approach is to detail your son's problems in as much detail as possible, breaking down the activities wherever relevant, in to smaller sub groups.

Remember to make use of "reliably" and "on the majority of days" wherever you can.

What you are trying to do is show that his limitations are consistent with his conditions.

Letters from those who have supported him at college and in general will definitely help.

Make sure you use our PIP Claim guide to help you show that he meets the criteria for an award.
