No updated new evidence to prove it. was created by butbut2007
I was born deaf in both ears and have around 60% hearing loss which has gone worse over the pass few years. My doctor doesn't have anything about my hearing on record even though they have been told, as all my records are at the hospital where I've been going since 1977. Everytime I go there, I don't get anything to say what I've had done as it's all done on computer now. For some unknown reason, my pass medicals have contacted the doctor only and not the hospital even though I've stressed hard enough that it is the audiology who have the 'proof', and not the doctors surgery, due to this, the decision maker cancels my claim and then the appeals start. I feel sick with worry that with deafness being a hidden disability, and no doubt they have contacted my doctor rather than the hospital, I feel my claim is already cancelled before I've even walked through their doors as pass assessors really don't have a single clue about deafness and some can be arrogant when I'm trying to explain what it is like. I've given loads of 'proof' in the past but that have fallen on 'deaf ears'! Any help please. Thank you.

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

In case you are not aware, your real name appears to be showing in the forum, if you want to change this then follow the instructions in the following FAQ

My full name is showing, how can I stop it?

Don't assume that your GP does not have up to date information about your problems, it is standard practice for those treating you at the hospital to write to your GP every time you have an appointment.

You don't mention the benefit, but both ESA and PIP have specific activities that deal with deafness, that does not mean that you cannot score in other activities as well, but DM's prefer to partition problems to the activity that applies.

If you can tell us the benefit in question then we may be able to provide more information.
