No face to face assessment was created by Carper
Hi all, been a while but Im back again needing help.

My granddaughter cannot do a face to face of any sort, not even at home with a relative present. She has heard how difficult assessments are with all the trick questions throught out the test and she is too anxious and stressed etc to do one.
Her mother did one recently and the, on the face of it, wonderful woman wrote lies all the way through the assessment. My daughter didnt listen to my advice to tape the assessment.

I have asked the DWP for a no face to face assessment for her and they said from the answers given by her doctor there isnt enough proof of her to have one.

I asked what the specialist mental councillor told them and the lady said we didnt provide a telephone number for her! I said Ill Google it for you and did just that. She said she would reconsider my grandaughters case when and if she has spoken to the specialist.

Im not feeling posative for a good result due to my granddaughter not going to the doctors as much as she should and not taking up the specialist's offer of further and private help, my granddaughter couldnt afford it.

And so can you advise with some advice of what my granddaughters rights or options are as I cannot see any advice here on the site.

Thanks a lot for all help, Carper.

The decision to do a Paper Based Review is with the Assessment Provider(AP) and to a lesser extent, the DWP. The primary requirement is that there is sufficient information for the AP to do this, if they do not believe that that there is the information to do this then they are compelled to require a face to face.

The claimant has no rights in this matter. In order for their claim to be progressed they must attend and a failure to do can result in their claim being closed, whilst this is an appealable Decision it can take months to resolve with guarantee of success.

The only thing I can suggest is to contact her MP once the election has been resolved, they can sometimes tip the AP in to doing a PBR if their decision about doing one is marginal, but she also needs to be aware that a Paper review may not be in her best interests if there are concerns about the information available.
