JSA and Fit Notes was created by Dizzy15
I have submitted my MR (with the help of Dial) and have registered for JSA. I am covered by my Fit Note until 1st July and GP will renew this when due. However:

1) - Do I submit the Fit Note before I have received confirmation of JSA (likely to be Contribution base at this time) or beforehand?

2) - Will I still be expected to go and sign on and attend weekly job seekers meeting. I am being asked to attend weekly which is difficult for me as I rely on others to get me about.

I am currently expected to actively seek employment (and record daily searches) for 35hrs per week looking within a 90 minute travel range but have agreed to my working only part-time (20hrs). My condition is such that I can barely walk before my balance goes and looking at screens is extremely problematic after a short time due to my Vestibular Problems.

At my first JSA interview I tried to explain my mobility problems and was told by the adviser that 'If I can breath, I can work'.... not a very helpful lady at all.

I am finding this whole process stressful and exhausting and not helping my conditions at all.

TIA

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

In case you are not aware, your real name appears to be showing in the forum, if you want to change this then follow the instructions in the following FAQ

My full name is showing, how can I stop it?

1. Don't submit your Fit Note until your JSA claim is accepted and in payment or you risk the claim being refused.

2. Although the JC+ should take any limitations that you have in to account when setting your Job Search agreement you have no special status because you are challenging your ESA Decision. So you need to make sure that they understand those limitations so that the activities that you are asked to do are reasonable.

If you submit the Fit Note then you should be excused any requirements for up to 13 weeks.

If your MR is unsuccessful and you go onto appeal then you should be able to switch back to ESA at the Assessment Rate.

Thank you for your response, I had a feeling that was the case but needed to check.

My apologies if that question had been asked before but unfortunately I am unable to spend to long 'scrolling' at a PC because my vertigo is aggravated by it, so scrolling through the forum can be a considerably uncomfortable.

I informed the JC Advisor that I am currently requesting a MR, and was asked: Can you breath?" and before I could answer she continued: "Well you can work then". Not a pleasant, or helpful, lady at all. Thank goodness for this site.

Again, thank you for your help.

Two things.

JC+ staff are targeted with getting JSA claimants into work and tend to get aggravated with things that get in the way of them doing this and secondly, they will have no access to the information from your ESA claim, so you need to bring them up to speed on your problems if they are to take account of them.

Of course some are just s****!
