I have just placed an appeal against ESA finding me fit for work. I'm now told that I will lose the wpag component of my ESA and just be paid a basic rate of £73.10. This can't be fair can it

I assume you have completed an MR?
When you appeal you can opt to receive the ESA Assessment Rate while you wait for a hearing. ESA is the only benefit that does this, the others make no payment during the appeal if no award is made.
