Attending tribunal in the next few days

Hi everyone. Sorry if this has been asked before but I was hoping that someone would care to share the experience of what happened at the tribunal. I have a date to attend the court in a few days and feel a little anxious. I have read all the guides, made tons of notes and written a summation. But would still like to hear a personal experience. Many thx

Shush

Hopefully other members will respond wit their own experiences but this is what I would advise.

Other than making a list of the points that you want to make sure that are covered, I would make a plan for the hearing, I did for my first one and it lasted about two minutes.

Do go through your claim form, evidence and submission the night before.

The panel will be two members for an ESA appeal, a Judge/solicitor and a doctor and for PIP there will be a third member, who is has experience in disability issues.

Most of the questions will come from the doctor, followed by the disability expert, the Judge may ask some, but tends to spend their time taking notes.

Even if the panel is pleasant, expect the questioning to be robust and they may well ask the same question from different directions to confirm your problems. Take a moment to make sure that you understand the question before answering it, if you don't then don't be afraid to ask.

It's becoming increasingly common for no Decision to be made on the day, so if they say that will write to you with it, then don't worry this is perfectly normal and is not a reflection of the result.

Best of luck

Gordon

Good luck Shush67...it is nerve wracking & also be prepared for questions which may seem unrelated to how your condition affects your day to day activities. Just try and relate your evidence to the question somehow.

Thank you caiti . Actually I am quite looking forward to it . It has been 8 months from assessment to tribunal. Even if the decision to move to ESA support group goes against me, at least I can move on and reassess.

I am completely euphoric. Won my appeal. Thank you Gordon and Caiti for your encouragement. It felt so seamless, in and out in half an hour. Both the members of the tribunal were very courteous.
I will do another post later about my experience from facetoface to tribunal. Might help someone
Thank you again. Much respect to all of you at this site.
