PIP question was created by Monti
I recently received the DLA to PIP transfer letter and did the phone call part. Now waiting for the PIP2 form to come through.
I took your PIP test but have a query about one of the questions.

Mobility activities
11. Planning and following journeys.
11 a. Can plan and follow the route of a journey unaided. 0 points
11 b. Needs prompting to be able to undertake any journey to avoid overwhelming psychological distress to the claimant. 4 points
11 c. For reasons other than psychological distress, cannot plan the route of a journey. 8 points
11 d. For reasons other than psychological distress, cannot follow the route of an unfamiliar journey without another person, assistance dog or orientation aid. 10 points
11 e. Cannot undertake any journey because it would cause overwhelming psychological distress to the claimant. 10 points
11 f. For reasons other than psychological distress, cannot follow the route of a familiar journey without another person, an assistance dog or an orientation aid. 12 points

I can't really go anywhere without someone else in case my leg goes or my back locks and then I need help either to move or to get up off the floor. I have back problems that cause these things to happen and walk with 2 crutches. I never go anywhere without my son (who is my carer) or my sister with me in case the above happens. And going places I don't know causes anxiety anyway. Would my answer for this question be D?

The DWP clearly distinguish between the Going Out activity which considers conditions related to cognitive capability, mental health issues and sensory problems from the Moving Around activity that considers any physical issues that the claimant has, so I think you will struggle to score points based on your post.

I think you will struggle to meet (d) for to reasons, you mention anxiety when going places, but this Descriptor specifically excludes psychological distress as a reason for meeting the criteria, secondly, this task is about a claimant being able to follow or navigate a route, the issues you raise are not about this.

You might be better served looking at (e), although there will still be the issue of the underlying cause of your problems.
