pip was created by peter philipson
Well i received letter confirming no change to the decision about the pip i have been awarded. I,m a 68 year old pensioner and was on the high rate of mobility indefinitely , was not getting anything else just the mobility. They have now given me standard rate of both care and mobility , resulting in me loosing my car. If i was two months older i wouldn,t have had to transfer from DLA to PIP. i have penile cancer, arthritis in my knees, copd , high blood pressure and IBS. I,m going to appeal of coarse , but some advice would be appreciated .

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

In case you are not aware, your real name appears to be showing in the forum, if you want to change this then follow the instructions in the following FAQ

My full name is showing, how can I stop it?

If you have now received a Mandatory Reconsideration Notice then you have the option of appealing the Decision to the Tribunal Service where it will be looked at from scratch.

Be aware, as you are over the age of 65 you cannot receive a higher award of Mobility then you have now, even if it is accepted that you meet the criteria, unless your current award is increased to the Enhanced rate, so it is worth your considering the appeal.

The PIP Appeal guide has links to the SSCS1 form that you will need to complete and the Submissions guide has a complete example that you can use to help you fill it in, you do not need to provide detailed reasons at this stage for your request.

Once your appeal is accepted the DWP will prepare their submission to the hearing and send you a copy, whilst you should wait until you receive this to finish and submit your own, you should start to prepare your own case, an increased award will only be made by your showing that you score the extra points for one, so I would start by going back through your PIP2, the assessment report and the PIP Claim guide to see how you might show this is the case.

If you have further questions then please reply to this post and we will do our best to help.

i was on the high rate of mobility dla indefinitely, but i was 8 weeks from my 65th birthday when pip came into force,so i got the letter to apply for pip . gave me standard rate on both parts so im losing my only means of getting out of the house. i asked for it to be looked at again knowing full well it would be turned down. i rang the dwp yesterday and they informed me the letter was sent out on the 14th june , but i still have not recieved it. i have to lodge my appeal a month from the date on this letter so over a week of this month has gone. rang them again today was advised to wait another couple of days thus not leaving me much time to get my appeal in.

Don't worry too much about the appeal, the form is relatively simple and will take less than an hour to complete.

The PIP Appeal guide has links to the SSCS1 form that you will need to complete and the Submissions guide has a complete example that you can use to help you fill it in, you do not need to provide detailed reasons at this stage for your request.
