Can you please tell me if my wife can claim carers allowance for looking after me as I need a lot of care (MS). I am on high rate mobility and care and ESA Support group, and my wife is now getting ESA Support group
thanks to you.
Also are our occupational pensions taken into account as earned income as if we were working?
Any help would be helpful.

Providing her claiming CA would not be at odds with her own SG award then there should be no problems with her claiming CA, whether there is a financial advantage to her doing so will depend on your personal circumstances, try putting your information into one of the online benefit calculators.

I always get very nervous when a member mentions pension income that appears to be in payment and implies that the DWP do not know about it. Yes, a pension will be treated as income for ESA, the deductions (if any) will depend on the amount of the pension and the type of ESA that you are receiving. You must tell the DWP about any income that you have.
