Home visit was created by Deb
I am currently go through the hell of transferring from DLA to PIP I have completed the PIP form
And have just received the appointment letter to attend a medical I requested a home visit as my partner and Carer [removed] as just come out for ICU at Wigan hospital after suffering a bilateral pulmonary embolism and pneumonia plus other on going problems and he is unable to walk very far let alone drive and as I do not drive and both my partners are disable I would find it possible to get there and to ever get in and out a taxi would be extremely difficult as I have to used several cushions in our own car and have to be physically lift out of the car again which [removed] would find possible to do in his current state.

Plus the fact that I cannot use stairs or disable toilets as I need a higher toilet and as disable toilets are aimed at use by wheelchair users so I am able to use them myself I would need to be physically lower and lifted which [removed] oblivious cannot do at the moment. We have just rung atos and spoke one of staff who was very understanding with my situation but said they had looked at the points I made on the form and made the decision that because the centre can canter to my condition with the stairs and that there are disable toilets that they refused my need for a home visit as it is me that is being assessed and not [removed]. She as put my points I made down and as requested them take another look at my situation but she didn't think it would make much difference.

Soon any help you could give would greatly appreciate as it is stressful enough trying to coping with my own health problems and dealing with going through DLA to pip and now I have the added stress and worry for [removed] health also as we cannot get any help

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

I have removed your partner's name from your posts, whilst you need to be a member to post in the forum, those posts can be read by any internet user.

I'm afraid you won't get a home assessment without the assistance of your GP, you need them to write to the Assessment Provider explaining why you cannot attend at their offices.

If you have further questions then please reply to this post and we will do our best to help.

Hi Gordon
Thanks for your reply I have made contact with my local M.P who as email me back and told me contact her case worker to discuss my case further don't know if it will help but I don't know what else to do as I relay so much on my carer it is only when the helps gone that you realised how much you needed the help.
Cheers Deb

Hi Gordon
Got the home visit don't think it was it was through the M.P as he as not even bothered to email me back like he said he would so I think it most of been all the extra info I given the girl from atos on the phone. Had my face to face today I think it when ok but I am second guessing myself as the questions are so quick fired at you, you think after they left, I didn't mention that or I didn't say that so now I am worried sick I did give enough detail to my answers when they looked at your case do they just go off what the assessor's writes or do they take all the info from my claim form and supporting evidence I sent? The face to face lasted 1 and half hour which I think is a good sign? and she was very nice but it is not her who makes the decision she said we should hear back from the DWP in 4-8 weeks so the agonising wait begins for the dreaded brown envelope not think my nerves can take it. Also Gordon one last question how do l get a copy the face to face assessment report?
Thanks for any help you can give it is much appreciated and thanks for the brilliant job yo all provide much love Deb

You can request a copy of the report by contacting the DWP office dealing with your claim

The DM will look at all of the information available to them but they will give the most weight to the assessment report.

We're currently seeing PIP Decisions in about 2-4 weeks although this may extend due to summer holidays.
