Melt down over pip award...help!! was created by Emlet
Hi everyone just joined here as feeling so traumatised having just gone through pip assessment. I should be grateful that I got enhanced rate in daily living part, but I'm unhappy with points scoring, I have daily support to manage my mental health and they marked me 1 point but should of got 6. Because I had home assessment from atos and answered questions I got 0 points for communication yet i hardly speak to people. I'm agoraphobic and got 4points for mobility part, I think at least be lower rate. I feel to scared to appeal but worried my esa support group be affected as not accurate representation of how my disabilities affect me....any advice?:)

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

Congratulations on your award.

I'm afraid there is no mechanism for dealing with these anomalies, so if you have an Enhanced award for Daily Living then I really cannot recommend you challenging this Decision. You risk losing points with no guarantee of receiving more!

As to the Mobility component you will need to show that you;

Cannot undertake any journey because it would cause overwhelming psychological distress

Can you reasonable show this? You may be able to argue that "cannot" does not mean "never" but the standard you will need to meet will be far higher than the normal "majority of days".

Have a look at our PIP Claim guide for more information

If you have any questions then please reply to this post and we will do our best to help.
