Change of Mobility status in existing PIP award

Hi!
I was awarded the enhanced care rate of PIP in January 2017 (it was backdated to October 2016) but didn't qualify for the mobility element.
However, I have since developed severe mobility problems which I received DLA for in the past (10 years ago).
I am now unsure what the procedure is; would I just be reassessed on mobility or would my whole application be reassesed? Am unsure whether re-applying could affect my existing award (I have mental health problems and associated anxiety) and I could end up with nothing after fighting so hard to get what I have already.
Any advice or experience in this situation would be most appreciated. Many thanks.

The first thing you need to consider is whether you would score sufficient points for a Mobility award. PIP has been engineered to be significantly more difficult to award than DLA was. So I would start by having a good read of the two Mobility activities to see whether you can score at least the 8 points for an award. See

If you think that you would reasonably likely to receive an award then you need to think about the risk to your current award. Reporting a Change will result in a full reassessment of your claim, the Daily Living component as well. A new claim form and almost certainly a face to face assessment.

If you are happy to go through this process then write to the DWP advising them of the deterioration in your conditions and asking to be reassessed, if you can, send the letter by a tracked post so you have proof of delivery as the letter should set the date that any new award is made from.
