Hi,
Just a quick question before my pip assessment.
Do you think there's any value in adding a letter from local authority saying that I am on waiting list for downstairs accommodation due to on going health problems,as additional evidence.
Thanks in advance x

It's difficult.

I doubt it is going to be of significant value to your claim, however, it does highlight that you are not living already living on the ground floor which introduces the issue of you potentially managing the stairs to go out. We have seen DM's treat this as an ability to walk, so if you are hoping for a Mobility award it might be better not to include it.

Hi,
Well the assessment is over so now the waiting begins
I thought I would share my experience with other members as it was all pretty bizzare!!
Firstly the venue was unsuitable ,but as I had read on B&W site comments from another member about the place I was well prepared.
The receptionist was very friendly and there were 4 of us all with the same appt time but there was 4 HCP to deal with us, she constantly joked with us and said if we didnt behave she would assign us the nasty HCP, (she did say she was joking) she also explained about Atots's name change that they were genuinely keen to change the perception that they had,she said all the HCP were very sympathetic towards people with disabilites and would assist us as best they could, we all looked at each other as we couldn't believe what we were hearing.
I then met my assesor and she was lovely ,wanting to ensure I was comfortable , fetching iced water for my husband who had a bad cough(I thought I was dreaming).
Now the assesment begins ,I was well prepared as I has followed all the guides, I was extremely honest in answering the descriptors eg I said I used easy grip cutlery when eating she said did my husband cut the food up for me I said not really ,she said no I think he does .
It was if she was prompting me in my answers, she did this at least another 4 times.
I had taken additional evidence which was not available when I sent in my paperwork with me , when I offered this to her she declined saying that it was not required as she believes me in how I am affected by my various health conditions(I 'll keep it all for my appeal) she advised me to tell my gp to change my meds.
Finally she told me I would results in 6 weeks the whole thing took 1hr and 40 mins..and I was not to worry.
Now as I had an horrific time nearly 3 years ago before finally getting ESA contriburtion in the support group,do I believe everything is going to be fine this time absoultley not, I am suspicious that Atos have developed new tatics as we all became to aware of their old ones(how sad that is how I feel) any way I can only wait and see.
I should have said it took 13 weeks to get my assesment which is in Ayrshire Scotland.
Sorry for such a long post but thanks for reading and I hope you are all as well as you can be,x

You should be able to request a copy of the assessment report later in the week by contacting the DWP office dealing with your claim.

PIP Decisions are currently taking 2-4 weeks.
