Hi

I've just had my letter confirming my PIP award :)
Had a home visit and I've been awarded 10 points for daily living and 12 points for mobility. I've been like this for 15+ years and the award is similar to my previous DLA award (middle care/higher mobility)

What I'm surprised at is my previous DLA award was indefinite and I thought PIP would be ongoing or long but it's 4 years. The thing is I find the whole process quite stressful and stress makes me worse . Ive looked at the info on appeals and I'm probably just going to have to go through it all again in four years but I can't understand why four years when I'm not going to get any better? (Got medical evidence Inc CT scans etc)
Is it worth me phoning to ask or do they only look at it again via official appeal?

Thank you in advance x

Congratulations on the award. Well done.

Award length is based on the possibility of change both better and worse. I'm afraid we haven't seen anybody successfully challenge the length of an award when this is the only issue that has been raised.

Even though you might request the DWP to only look at the length of the award, they are entitled to and almost certainly will look at the whole award, so you need to consider how secure your existing award is before asking for an MR.
