Hi there I am taking my uncle to a esa assessment tomorrow he suffers from really bad depression and is extremely suidcal just now so and is very unlikely to talk to interviewer, I was wondering if the will let me answer questions and also if he will need to wait in waiting room before meeting or either they will allow him to wait outside until interview starts. Thanks for any advice

They may allow you to answer, I'm afraid it will depend on the assessor on the day.

It should be OK to wait outside, but check with the reception area first.

Best of luck.

Thank you just back from assessment after a sleepless night trying to settle my uncle and encourage him to leave the house after over 3 months of not being out, I am just glad it is by with for a week or so at least!

Does anyone know how long it takes to hear anything from dwp?

Not really sure how the assessment went it, did not really get much of a chance to say anything that I really wanted to say plus was very shock at the time spent in room was there for 10 minutes maximum so unsure if this is normal or should it have lasted longer?

ESA Decisions are taking 2-4 weeks.

You may be able to request a copy of the report by contacting the DWP dealing with his claim, however the DWP do not usually release this until after the Decision is made.

A short assessment is not necessarily a bad thing, it could be that the information you supplied was sufficient and they just needed a face to face as verification of his problems.
