ESA WCA Cancelled twice by Maximus

Hello and thank you for the guidance which has been very helpful.

Firstly, my WCA has been cancelled twice now. The first one was cancelled because the person carrying it out was unavailable and the second one was cancelled while I was waiting in the waiting room because of intermittent power. They cancelled it because the assessor said she could see that it was causing me distress. When my friend asked if they could just write it all down and then enter it into the computer, she said she couldn't because it was a legal document.

Secondly, I have sent in further medical evidence from my therapist which documents that I have a history of suicide attempts and a plan in place to commit suicide. It also states that I have severe anxiety, depression and PTSD (I scored 75 on the PTSD questionaire - the threshold is 30). The DWP have received this as I sent it by recorded delivery. They also asked my GP for a report but I still have to attend a F2F assessment.

It's been making me rather ill and it's been five weeks of misery since I was sent the first appointment. Since sending in my ESA50 I've been referred to the secondary care team for mental health to be assigned a CPN.

Is there anything I can do? I don't know how much longer I can keep being put through this.

Have you spoken to your GP about the request they have received?

For a Paper Based Review to be done, Maximus have to have sufficient information about your conditions to be able to make a recommendation to the DWP. It may be possible to fill any holes that they believe are in your evidence via your GP but there is no guarantee that you can achieve this.

Would a home assessment make it easier for you? If it would then your GP needs to write to Maximus explaining why you cannot attend at their offices.

Once your GP has responded you could try involving your MP, they can sometimes make a difference to assessment decisions.
