Hello everyone, i have just received a copy of the medical assessors home visit to me. It contains blatant lies and inaccuracies. Can you tell me what i need to do to put this report right and get it to atos and also to make a formal complaint about the assessor.

The report bears no resemblance as to what actually took place.

Many thanks
Jon

You can write to the Decision Maker but there is only a small window for you to do this before a Decision is made.

Stick to issues of fact is at all possible, it can be difficult to argue with an opinion unless you can show there is no factual support for it, for example; the assessor's opinion is that I can walk 100m however I attended the assessment in a wheelchair and at no time did they see me walk.

Stick to issues that will score you points, their grammar may be an indication of a lack of professionalism but it isn't going to get you an award.

Send you letter to the DWP office dealing with your claim, the address should be on the original invitation letter.

they are refusing to send the last two pages of the report, is this lawful, have any other members had this situation. They also say that the case is being "reworked" although they refuse to say what this means. Do you know what this phrase means? Also they insist that i communicate by phone, however in their charter they say that they will communicate in a method of choice. As they haven't yet discovered email or fax communication, or rather they want to make it as hard for claimants to communicate as possible, Can i insist that they communicate by postal letter only due to my disability? Once again many thanks

Why are they refusing the last two pages.

I am guessing that "reworked" means that the DWP have asked ATOS to look at your assessment report again.

I have to tell you that it may be significantly quicker for you to communicate with the DWP over the phone, but if you wish to only communicate in writing then then write a letter to them explaining this and that you will no longer accept any communication by phone.

thank you Gordon, yes i have done that and they have sent the last two pages which states "for office use only" just gives the full name of the assessor and the description of the illness which is partially wrong! Also sending them a letter stating that postal letter is my preferred method of communication which best suits my needs as a disabled person.
