ESA assessment was created by greeneyedlad
hello
I recently said no to the transfer from DLA to PIP as I really couldnt go through the stress of the assessment.
I was worried that it would trigger an ESA assessment & sure enough it has, today I received a ESA50 in the post.
Is this unusual? I have been on ESA for a long time in the support group and never been re-assessed so I suppose iv been lucky to have had years left alone.
I thought there was another form people had to fill in if they have been on ESA a while that simply asked if my condition had changed or not, (cant remember the name of it)
not the ESA50 form?!
Im sure the ESA50 was the form I filled in when I originally applied for ESA

It's not impossible that the ESA reassessment was triggered by you PIP failure, but as you failed to attend the assessment it's more likely just a coincidence, however, it doesn't really matter what the cause.

There is a short form called an ESA50N but if you have been sent an ESA50 then this is what you need to complete.

If you have not completed a form for sometime then you should make sure that you refer to the latest ESA Claim guides.

thanks Gordon, I really dont know if i can go through the stress of this too.

However if I do fill in the form & go for it, would I be able to also re-apply for PIP even though I declined the DLA transfer a few months ago?
How long do I have to re-start a claim or would it have to be a completely fresh PIP claim now rather than the DLA to PIP transfer I said no to?

If you don't participate in the ESA reassessment then there is a good chance that your claim will be closed so please make the effort.

You can make a new claim for PIP at any time there is no waiting time, but if you are struggling with the ESA, it might be worth your staggering the two so that you don't have to deal with both of them at the same time.

I've had an ESA50 form to fill in after 5 years in ESA support group. My condition is progressive but they still want me to start from scratch! Think it may be due to the change from ATOS to this new firm!
