Shella

A question about how you got to the assessment looks at a number of the PIP activities.

So were you able to navigate to the centre (Going Out)?

Did part of your journey involve walking (Moving Around)?

If you drove then your holding the steering wheel for a long time would indicate grip and strength in your hand (Preparing Food / Washing and Bathing / Dressing and Undressing)

Driving requires cognitive ability (Going Out and possibly Making Decisions about Money)

So as you can see they can make a lot of assumptions from what appears to be a simple question.

i do use aids to help me i never thought of putting it in the application form. i was just thinking of things to do with occupational health not the stuff i bought myself.

Sheila, at my f2f I also answered that I had gone to the assessment on my own. What I had failed to say was my husband had parked in a nearby car park that was level enough for him to lower the ramps to get me and my power chair out, he stayed with the vehicle as it was was protruding into another space. I was also asked if I could drive and I answered yes because I can on occasion and this did not prejudice my having an award with care and mobility enhanced.
I hope you get the award you deserve.

the problem i always have is that i don't look disabled . and i have no diagnosis pluis i dont visit my GP often enough i had to write a letter about 3 years ago explaining the difficulties of living day to day i had to they were killing me.........they didn't realize that my sats drop so low that i pass out there is too many other things going on after i letter they treated me different in a good way.........i am fiercely independent even though i live in sheltered housing I really had to think if i wanted to put myself through an appeal........i feel i meet some of the criteria in the higher points its hard to let go of the lies and assumptions that were made it hurts .... it gets confusing when you hold a plastic cup and from that they say you can wash yourself you can cook a meal or by crossing your arms across your chest you can use the shower ohhh there is so much more i understand what they did now thanks to Gordan ........i pointed all this out in my review and they still only went on what they previewed at the assessment i cant see my self winning but at least i will be able to explain and have closure

i am stuck on a question on the appeal form ...why are you appealing ......if i say i did not agree with the outcome then they might say that is not enough reason then if i say the reason why then they can use that information against me After going through this i don't trust anyone.
i think completely differently that before.......i am also complaining to ATOS for the way the reassessment was handled the thing is i would have never thought of doing it for me the last straw was the diction letter....they just repeated what was written in the first and did not cover any of the issues i brought up then the out right lies they dismissed everything i said even that the door was open in the interview..........so i need help in separating my paranoia and stick to the facts
so how do i answer question i cant find anything like this on the net if anyone knows can you post the link or point me in the right direction i am not looking for a free ride with this i am willing to put the work in i will read all information
i just havent found it yet and time is a ticking

Sheila

You don't have to provide a detailed reason on the SSCS1 Appeal form, it's enough to say

"I disagree with the DWP's Decision I believe that I meet the criteria for X and that this is supported by Y evidence that was attached to my claim form".

There's a sample completed SSCS1 in the Submissions document in the PIP area.
