Compliance Officer requests an appointment

I have been a member of B&W for quite some years and have read the forums quite often, ive had a quick search for a compliance officer interview request but couldnt find anything.

I have been called for an interview at my local JCP building which is the most unfriendly place to access for anybody with disabilities. I have just called to request a home visit but apparently i have been given an incorrect phone number on the letter and the lady who called me back said the officer stated on my letter is not in and works part time so she shall leave a message for her to call me back!

I was awarded ESA support group last sept and im on PIP high rrate care low rate mobility. I doesnt say which benefit this compliance officer wishes to see me about but i suspect ESA. Im asked to bring proof of my identity plus bank statements, pay slips if im working (im not), statements of savings (i dont have any) property details other than the one i live in (i dont own any ohter property) and also says if i have a partner for tem to bring the same ( i dont have a partner).

Im already stressed and i only opened the letter an hour ago.

Is this a normal occurance of being asked to see a compliance officer? From past experiences seeing a compliance officer is usually when somebody has called them to spread malicious lies (it happened to me over 15 years ago when i was claiming income support). I have not claimed benefits except for DLA or PIP for 8 years until last year.

Sorry if my post is a bit of a mess but my brain is in over drive.

In case you are not aware, your real name appears to be showing in the forum, if you want to change this then follow the instructions in the following FAQ

My full name is showing, how can I stop it?

There are three scenarios potentially;

- By far and away the most likely is that you have been selected at random for the pleasure of a review.
- It could be that that you have been reported, some 95% of these reports are either malicious or made in error, unfortunately the DWP are obliged to investigate each one.
- Lastly it's possible that something has been flagged to the DWP, have you had any large payments or regular payments recently?

You can have someone with you at the interview, whether it is at their offices or at your home and I would advice you to do this, if only for moral support.

Apart from that there is little advice that I can offer, I still have my stomach turn over every time I get a brown envelope, so there is probably little that I can say which will help you with your nerves over this, perhaps the only thing I can say, is not to tackle it on your own if you can avoid doing so.

Hi, I had this but it was a telephone call appointment. I was worried out of my mind so i rang them to ask what it was regarding. Im so glad i did as it was 2 account numbers had been flagged up that they wanted to know more about. One was my daughters child savings account and one was an old now closed savings account. My advice would be to give them a ring and ask what the interview is with regard to. Once i had proved the accounts were old it was all over. Good luck.

I originally called as soon as i opened the letter and the lady who answered said the wrong phone number was on the letter as it is not her who is doing the interview. She got her colleague to call me back though, so i was able to speak to the lady doing the interview. I explained that im anxious about why i need to come in and it is an awkward place to go if you have walking issues but she said they dont do home visits. She also said its to make sure that im on the correct benefits!! I know im on the correct benefits and said so. But i still have to go.
