PIP and Legal Aid was created by Trevor Owen
Hi, I was wondering if there is any help out there regarding PIP appeals. My son won his tribunal 12 months ago but after being re-assessed his award has been stopped. I have gone through the process of mandatory reconsideration, which of course upheld the decision to stop the award.
I am now going to appeal to the Tribunal again, however the last time my son was able to get legal aid which now appears to have been stopped.
Is there any organisation out there which could help with representation, or are we on our own?

Hi and Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is

My full name is showing, how can I stop it?
I'm sorry you and your son are going through this
As you say, legal aid is no longer available for first tier tribunals.
CABs will sometimes help but we often hear that they will only do this when they have helped complete the original forms. It is certainly worth a try! Is there an organisation relating to your son's condition? For instance, MIND will sometimes help with appeals for claimant's with mental health problems.
You can also try doing an internet search using the terms 'welfare advice' and your area/postcode.
Failing all that, we have many members who have been successful without representation using the guides on this site.

May I suggest that you bookmark/favourite this on your web browser now so that you can find it easily in future? This will allow you to return with further questions or comments about your son's PIP without having to start a new topic each time. We ask members to keep everything relating to the same claim in one topic as it helps us enormously - and I hope you will find it useful too
