DLA to PIP for my son was created by Charley
Hi to all, new to the forum but just wanted to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who works so hard to make this wonderful site available.
I had a fight when claiming DLA for my son five years ago, he is on the autistic spectrum, and it was difficult but we managed to get the benefit for him.
January this year he turned 16, and at that time I was legally made his appointee.
We were asked to make a claim to PIP, which we did following the awesome guides here and were completely shocked when we were called to an assessment.
We attended this and two weeks later got the brown envelope detailing how he was not entitled to PIP.
So, back here I came to the site to lay out the Mandatory reconsideration, which was logged with them on 21/06/17.
The second dreaded brown envelope arrived yesterday, the decision has been changed and my son now has standard rate care from June 2017 to May 2028!! They didn't award the mobility whichnim considering taking to appeal, however I'm absolutely thrilled with the outcome.
Surely if not for this site I may not have had the courage or the relevant information to push them to change the decision and I am so very happy to be a subscriber and paying member!!
I've seen someone else say it, but truly it's the best money I ever spent.
Thank you so very much for all the input from everyone involved in making this site a success. You really do make a difference to people's lives, and that is something to be very proud of.
(((Virtual Hug to you all))) thank you
