ESA? was created by Andrea
Hi , I've just received a letter confirming my claim on behalf of my son(iam his appointee and career)for esa. Letter states he will receive payments of £73.80 a week. He is only 19 and I was expecting £57.90 a week because of his age and never had employment so no NI contributions. He does receive enhanced dail living pip and standard mobility pip. Letter states he will receive an extra £15.90 because of the disability income guarantee but further down says pip components are not counted as income towards esa. He doesn't have any other income. When I checked rates online for esa it states the basic of £57.90 but if you're in support group you will receive an extra £15.90 total £73.80 which is the amount he has been given. Iam all new to esa as this is his first claim and I been reading your guides etc for help and my understanding was you can't get anything extra until you've filled in the esa forms on how your illness/disability effects you(which I haven't received yet as only applied a week ago) and also haven't attended any medical assessment yet. Hope Iam making sense! I've just had sons dla to pip saga - refused then changed on MR (back in July this year) thanks to your great Site. So glad I subscribed as didn't know at the time of joining I would have to go through the esa process.

The amount seems correct :)

£57.90 + £15.90 = £73.80

Any Premiums that the claimant is entitled to are payable during the Assessment phase, if they are placed in a group then they will received an additional £29.05 if placed in the WRAG and £36.05 for the Support Group.
