It's not the conditions that matter for PI but the effect that they have on your ability to complete the PIP activities.

The TPN may only score you 2 points, so you will likely need to show that you have problems with some of the other PIP activities to receive an award.

Also, your going into hospital will prevent your receiving payment for any award that you might receive.

See our PIP Claim guide for more details

Sorry I should of explained more clearly.
has been receiving DLA enhanced rate of mobility only for numerous years (an Indefinite award) however since November 2016 has been in and out of hospital numerous times due to the severity of the Crohn's disease. Is currently in hospital now and will be weeks before being allowed home as will be coming home with TPN Feeding and 2 x drains in Situ which will need to remain for 6-12 months, before needing more surgery to have a double colostomy. As the condition has deteriorated, could they now claim the care element as will need an extreme amount of help .

If the person is under 65 on 8 April 2013 then they can report a deterioration in their conditions but doing so will result in an invitation to claim PIP.

If they were over 65 then reporting a change will result in their DLA being reassessed, including the current Mobility award, they will need to meet the criteria for Medium or Higher rate care, the Lower rate cannot be awarded after 65.

Have they report the fact that they are or have been in hospital to the DWP?
