JSA to ESA Transition

Hi, i am about use up my 13 week sick note and am concerned about the complexities of the transition between JSA and ESA. I have stenosing of the spine and an existing knee immobilisation issue which are unresolved so have been advised i cannot any longer claim JSA, i have the support of my Dr. I already get a PIP payment on the second tier of support. I have been advised by the job centre to phone JSA and end my Claim and then call ESA to make a new claim. I called today and there is some discrepancy between the Job centres dates as to when the 30 days is up and the helpline 03456088545 advisory who say its a month later so it looks to me like they are missing a sick note on their records. I was told to sign off JSA today, and claim ESA from today, but the Helpline people say i have another 30 days... I have a mortgage to pay and bills and want this to go as seamlessly as possible and I've run into problems already. any advice would be a big help to releasing this knot in my chest, thanks.

My condition ( stenosing) has worsened considerably, i didn't appeal at the time as i was so stressed by the whole situation i was unable to even face another round of lies. The JSA people to their credit have been as helpful as possible but they have to do their job and i was put on a work program so i went back to the doctors to get medical certificates for knee problems that have gotten worse in the last year. As well as having severe arthiritis in both my knees ( both need replacing but I've been told too young at 54 for them to last longer than 5-7 years) my right knee has bits of meniscus floating round in it which mean I'm on a support stick for the best part and am not stable at all walking as it can give way.

Hi Gordon, thanks for help so far. I called ESA and said i had a claim refused 18 months ago and explained why i did not appeal. He told me to complete a new claim over the phone ( yesterday) and see of the claim is accepted by the 18th. In the meantime keep my JSA claim ongoing until i know I've been accepted by ESA. If they don't accept that my condition has got worse, can i appeal? This is a soul destroying experience as i was told at the job centre to shut claim and reclaim on the same day. Ive written to the job centre now as I've past my 13 week ESW period and have had no reply so far. I also have a med cert for this month. Any advice appreciated. thanks
