Waiting for PIP Assessment was created by Stephen Collins
Hello I have been waiting 22 weeks for my PIP F2F. I had to call capita to check where I was in the process. I found out that my claim was still waiting for assessment. I was told 99% of claims go F2F

Anyhow, I contacted my MP who wrote to DWP. They informed him that I had not provided enough evidence for a desk Assessment. That a home visit was to be arranged but it would be sometime. That if I wanted an assessment centre appointment I could have one in Worcester some 68 miles away at the end of August.
The bulk of evidence supporting the claim includes: 3 consultant reports, GP report, scans, charts and medical procedure evidence, an OT assessment, my disabilities housing officers letter and testimonials. I have two progressive disabilities which will only worsen.
My MP is now asking DWP what evidence so they need in addition and what questions need clarification.
I have had my motability contract extension for six months from last Friday.
I have absolutely no idea what more I can do, the process is aweful. Any advice, suggestions welcome. It's causing great distress and anxiety, which is becoming unbearable.

As you have already contacted your MP, I'm afraid I cannot suggest anything other than waiting to hear what additional information is wanted.

Thank you my MP has sent me the reply from DWP that:

"The assessment provider Capita, have decided they need a face to face consultation to establish the effects of your medical conditions and your ability to carry out activities of daily living and mobility. I appreciate this is not the outcome you would of liked"

They have not given the specifics of the information that is missing from my form or the huge package of evidence, including: medical reports, OT assessment, housing assessment, medication, treatment plan and care support.

The fact that my wait has been 23 weeks, plus, the only centre that can provide me with an appointment is some 68 miles away in Worcester, is impossible. Then having to wait until an assessor is recruited in my area in South Wales, for a home visit.
If there are questions that they need answers, would it not be easier to call me?
I have several conditions: lumber spinal stenosis, non alcoholic liver Disease, PTSD, IBS and severe depression.
Any further advice would be most welcome.

S

I'm afraid there is Little more that you can do, assessment decisions lie with the Assessment Provider, you can try contacting them again to find out what additional information might help them do a Paper Based Review.

Remember this is a functional assessment of your ability to complete the PIP activities, although you have supplied medical evidence it may not show your limitations in regard to this and that is why the AP are requiring a face to face.
