I think there was a hope that it would police the system but I remember the first recording that was done, the person was a member here and the report that was produced did not reflect what had happened in the assessment at all.

I suspect that at least some of those assessors who refuse to be recorded may have reasons for avoiding it.

Hello
I'm new here and to thie process and found myself in the same boat as you.
I received an appointment for an assessment and it was a long journey (for me anyway). As soon as I received the letter my anxiety started to build up and at one point I felt so sick that I considered just cancelling my claim.

I decided to ring them to see if they would be able to offer something closer to where I live and to my astonishment the lady asked if I would like a home visit. Of course I agreed and the appointment was set for 22nd.

Now the anxiety is starting again at the thought of the assessment. I have no idea what to expect and my memory is so bad that I will probably contradict what is on the form...oh dear..#

P.S I was told that I couldn't change this appointment and if I did the case would be closed
All the best with your assessment
Marion.

Thanks Gordon and hope it all goes well. Just being prepared here and what happens financially if 'unsuccessful' after the face to face.....would there be an automatic cut in my IR ESA (Support)? is there any information on this please?

If you are moved out of the Support Group to the WRAG then you ESA will be reduced, if you do not receive an award then your ESA will be stopped.

Thanks Gordon...so if it's stopped people have nothing to live on? I receive Income related ESA ( support)...probably best I don't dwell and think positively however just need to be prepared.

I think I've just done somehing really daft and would be grateful for some guidance! I sent a letter from my GP requesting a home assessment....signed for delivery. I'd also written a letter requesting my face to face is recorded and decided to send that in a separate envelope...signed for rather than put it with the GP's letter...just felt that there would be a record for each letter....both letters photocopied....however it wasn't until I'd posted them that I thought , I hadn't said anywhere that I wanted a home assessment...if that makes sense...it's just as i described with the GP requesting it. Do I need to write again and make the request or is what I've done adequate please? It was a senior moment . Thank you
