Hi and Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

Depending on your limitations and the expected duration of your problem(s), you might be able to claim ESA and/or PIP as a result. I suggest you have a good look at our guides for these benefits so that you understand the criteria against which you will be assessed if you decide to apply.

ESA is a 'wage replacement benefit' and PIP is to help with some of the additional expenses that arise due to long-term ill health/disability. It is entirely possible to qualify for both of these, the criteria are very different.

In addition, it is possible that you could be entitled to other benefits (such as Housing Benefit if you have rent to pay). As we do not deal with these, your best bet will be to put your details into one of the on-line advice sites to see if there is anything else you can apply for.

If you have further questions, please reply to this message and we will do our best to help.

Hi, have acute fibromyalgis, getting worse not betet. Have cut hours from 30 to 20 now 16 and struggling. Hence thinking of quiting. All ready claim pip, live on my own hence asking what benefit I could claim. I will not hinder a claim if I resign?

Please get face to face advice before resigning you may be giving up legal rights that you will later regret losing by doing so. Speak to the CAB they have a good background in employment law.

Being too ill to work does not mean that you meet the criteria for ESA so it essential that you check this out before you make any irreversible decisions.

Be aware that resigning may effect your ability to claim JSA if you need to. I'm unsure of the rules for Universal Credit but they may be the same.
