PIP Mandatory Recon was created by BlueAngel
Hi, I've asked before about my brother's app for pip. He was refused on the basis that the doctor (new surgery) wasn't aware of his problems. We put in for a mandatory recon, on the basis that we needed to question this.
We were told that we would have to access his records in London. Anywho, it turns out that 50 years ago doctor's didn't always document autism and ADHD even tho my brother was institutionalised.
So now DM has decided that they need to see him for further evidence. The distress and anxiety that this has caused him. My mum will go with him, she has asked whether he could have the interview recorded, she was told that they wouldn't do it. That we could make our own recording but would have to give them a copy before leaving.
On top of that he has been to the doctor who has written a letter saying that public transport in impossible and that the appointment was causing agitation and has referred him on to a psychiatrist. The letter hasnt arrived yet, tho the doctors have shown that it has been sent. So if it doesn't arrive this Friday he will have to attend the app on Monday. Mum has to come back off holiday, I can't support my son has a psychiatrist app which can't be cancelled. Are they usually this very difficult or is this because it's the mandatory recon phase? I'm confused

TIA

Your previous post about your brother was also titled PIP MR, but there appears to have been no Decision made on his claim yet, is this the case?

Recording the assessment. You need permission from the Assessment Provider and will need to be able to make two simultaneous recordings directly to tape of CD, you cannot use a digital device such as a mobile phone.

Get you GP surgery to fax or email the letter to the Assessment Provider, the AP should be able to provide the information needed to do this.

Yes Gordon this is the case. My brother went to the doctor. The doctor has backed him up. We won't be able to get it recorded in that case. Will mum be able to request a copy of the interview like WCA ? I'm not sure.
Thank you for your reply Gordon. Am going to get mum to phone the surgery for my brother too.

Is the assessment provider the place where he has to go for his interview?

Yes, give it a couple of days after the assessment and then contact the DWP office dealing with his claim.

The Assessment Provider is the company doing the PIP assessments for your brother's postcode, the assessment will be at one of the AP's offices.
