Can the independent assessment service make the decision that you don't need an assessment but can do it without seeing you face to face? I am hoping this is the case as I really don't think I can go for an assessment

The Assessment Provider can do what is called a Paper Based review but they need to be satisfied that they have sufficient information to do this in your claim form and anything attached to it, in reality this means that only a small percentage of claims are done without seeing the claimant.
