Hi everyone hope you are okay.
When I first finished work I offered 2 hours voluntary work at the local hospice, basically being a bedside companion to patients at the end of life, giving relatives time to take a break. There was nothing physical involved as I cant so much as carry a cup of tea across a room. I was basically there for reassurance and comfort when no one else was available.
When I applied for ESA I understood maybe voluntary work may be viewed as able to work and so I haven't been for several months and miss it.
I have been put in the support group with a condition that will not improve. Would this be viewed as able to work as I would love to go back for 2 hours per week? made me feel less like I had been put on the scrapheap because I couldn't do my job any longer.
Thank you

I'm afraid I cannot guarantee how the DWP will view this but there is a clear difference between voluntary work and Permitted Work.

I'm afraid it's a decision you will have to make for yourself based on your conditions and the activities that you have to do at the hospital.

Be aware you need to tell the DWP if you are starting any voluntary work.
