Mandatory Consideration for a PIP award was created by Anka_harris
Hello
I've received news today that after a review and reassessment for a time limited award for PIP, that I am to continue to receive the award with Standard Rate Daily Living and Mobility. I was on the Enhanced Rate before and have missed out by only 1 point to get the 12 points necessary for Higher Rate. This was on Descriptor 2. Taking food and drink which I got 4 points for last time but zero this time based on lack of evidence. The Case Manager indicated that in the report too. However, the mobility component was a complete surprise and am very grateful for this too.
So my question is, do I accept the award as is even though I feel I could get extra points with evidence from my GP (he's v.supportive), in the hope I get enhanced rate for daily living or go for MC knowing I could risk whole award as I am all too aware they could return lesser points or none at all and then to get points back would have to go for Full Tribunal Hearing?
It's up to me at then end of the day I know but am asking moderators and other people for any tips of what you they have been through. I'm not doing anything over weekend but time is of
the essence now and would need to move quickly next week for sure.
I have to say the assessor I saw was very good...she wrote a fair report including all detail mentioned and the points I received were based on evidence I provided. The award is until January 2020, effectively being reassessed in January 2019, so a relatively short period compared to a lot of awards. I'll take what I have though with gratitude and thanks and thanks also for all the info in the Guides without which I couldn't have filled in form.
My issues: Chronic Fatigue, Anxiety and Depression (Chronic) and Eating Issues
Look forward to hearing from you
Best wishes
Susanna

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Susanna,
I'm sorry that you have lost out due to your PIP review.
I would suggest looking at the PIP guide, alongside your PIP form and assessor's report, so that you can try and see why you did not score points where you expected to. Is there anything you can do to clarify the matter ? Can you show a new DM how and why you should have scored points? Do you have anything extra you could send in support?
You have 1 month, from the date on the decision letter, in which to get a MR request submitted to DWP, so you do not have to do anything straight away.

Thank you so much. I'm very grateful for the award I have... Will do what you suggested and have a look through the criteria again. To get a doctor's letter will take 10 days plus have to get an appointment with my GP which is a feat in itself..!
All the best

You could always submit your MR request a few days short of the deadline and tell them you will send in further information when you have it. That should buy you a bit more time in which to get a GP letter.
