Hi,

I am new to the forum. I am at the stage where I am about to start the paperwork for the tribunal process. I would be grateful for advise on how to approach this. Is there a template?

Also, with regards to a representative, can you suggest someone / an organisation who can help me?

Hi and Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

In case you are not aware, your real name appears to be showing in the forum, if you want to change this then follow the instructions in the following FAQ

My full name is showing, how can I stop it?
I have also hidden your location as, along with your full name, it gives people a lot of information about you!

You don't say which benefit this relates to. Either way, the relevant members' guide will explain the appeal process and also contain a link so that you can download the SSCS! form that you need to make your appeal request. You must also send in a copy of the MR decision letter.

At this stage you do not have to include a lot of information. At some stage you will receive a copy of all paperwork held by DWP in relation to this claim (this is called 'The bundle') and it will also contain DWP's submission - ie their reasons for finding as they did.

At this stage, you can write your own submission and explain how and why you should have scored points against relevant descriptors. The members' guide will help you understand the criteria and the language used by DWP.

You should start reading the guides and formulating your argument straight away, just wait until you get The Bundle before you actually write and send in your own submission.

May I suggest that you bookmark/favourite this on your web browser now so that you can find it easily in future? This will allow you to return with further questions or comments about your appeal without having to start a new topic each time. We ask members to keep everything relating to the same claim in one topic as it helps us enormously - and I hope you will find it useful too :)

Sorry, I realise that I have not answered your question about representation

You can do an internet search with the words 'welfare advice' and your town/postcode. You can also try contacting any group or organisation that relates to your condition/s. For instance RNIB help people with visual impairments and MIND helps people with mental health problems.

However, I'm afraid it is becoming increasingly difficult to get representation for appeals :( Many of our members have successfully represented themselves, so don't give up if you can't find anyone to help.

I haven't used their service so can't testify to it
