I would be very grateful for your advice on the following:-
I have received an appointment for a PIP assessment twenty five miles away on an industrial estate at 8am. This is the nearest assessment centre to me but there is no public transport at that time and I would not be able to manage all the changes required anyway, a quote for a taxi is extortionate and the firms we have tried are all busy with school runs at that time, I have no one else to take me and the person who is coming with me does not drive. If I have to drive myself will I be penalised?

If you attend alone and if you drive to the appointment then assumptions will be made about your capabilities, whether these will have a negative impact on your assessment will depend on your conditions.

You can arrange once, so you could re-book for a date when someone can take you.

You could also see whether your GP would write a letter saying that you need a taxi to take you, this might prompt the Assessment Provider to pay for it.
