At the moment I receive the standard rate for living allowance and mobility, I am 65yrs old next July (2018) my mobility is getting worse and I have a review in 2019 can my allowance go up after I am 65yrs old or does it have to stay the same as I get before turning 65yrs old. I understand I must be eligible for this but just wondered if it could go up the same as it could be stopped altogether if things went wrong for me. Many thanks in advance.

The PIP Regulations (DLA is the same), do not allow an increase in the Mobility award once the claimant reaches 65 or State Retirement Age whichever is the later.

You can notify the DWP of a deterioration in your conditions prior to your 65th birthday, assuming that this is the case, and be reassessed, but be aware this would be a full reassessment, new claim form and almost certainly a new face to face assessment.

Thanks Gordon, that has cleared things up for me as I have been worrying about this, I think many others might not realise this when they retire, but at the moment I will have to think about what you say about having a full re-assessment and maybe losing what I have got now. I will wait a while as I am going to have some new treatment and wait and see the outcome of that is, if my mobility is no better then I will think about a re-assessment. Much appreciated for the quick answer Gordon, take care and thanks again.
