Anna

It's our understanding that some of these are computer generated, particularly if the claimant is receiving ESA(CB) and is in the SG, it's the only way for the local JC+ office to force a meeting.

I'm afraid it is a condition of your ESA that you provide any information that the DWP reasonably request, so even though you are receiving ESA(CB) this does not mean that they cannot request your financial information.

Mine was triggered by an interest payment going in to my building society account, they said that to get that much interest I would have had to have about ten thousand pounds in it. I didn't and never have, had to prove it by three years of back statements, which I had to pay for :( That's all very well but I struggled to afford them and they refused to pay me back for the statements.

I felt that it wasn't my problem it was theirs that they were wrong. So they can force you to spend money you don't have. That was a week's worth of food to me.

Thank you, that is very helpful. Do you think they are likely to want to discuss details of my ESA claim - should I prepare for this interview as if it was a WCA?

The person you are seeing will not have detailed knowledge of the ESA criteria, if any at all, they are not qualified to assess you.

They may ask questions about your limitations but it will not be with the intention of reviewing your current award.
