Hi
I have the dreaded tribunal tomorrow 2nd October all paperwork etc ready my daughter will be with me for support I decided not to elect to have a representative as the Welfare Rights would only contact me 2 days before and I felt my case was too in depth for the time they could support me so my daughter is my representative
Can you give me any more guidance to help me get through this ordeal

Mr Frog

A PIP Tribunal panel consists of three members; a Judge, a doctor and a lay person with experience of disability issues.

There's a Ministry of Justice video that may give you an insight of what an appeal is like, it's for ESA but will still be similar.

MOJ Video of ESA Appeals Process and Tribunal

Expect most of the questions to be from the doctor, their questioning will be robust and they may come at a topic from several angles, but they should be fair and will not be trying to get you to give a particular answer.

Just try and take a few seconds to make sure you understand the question and answer as you can.

I've had several appeals and have learnt that it's not worth trying to make a plan or second guess how the panel will be, it never quite works like that :)

Best of luck.

Gordon

Hi Gordon
Hot off the press thank you for all your help and guidance at last over 12 months later tribunal over Enhanced for Care and Mobility. The downside I had to give up my mobility car !
To everyone going through the horrible process hang in there if you are genuinely ill it will work out in the end. Tribunal is the last resort but at least the independent panel can see and hear you for what you are don't let PIP or ESA grind you down.

That's terrific news, well done.

It usually takes the DWP 5-8 weeks to process a Tribunal result, I would give them a call in couple of days to make sure that they have received the Decision Notice.
