Nowcard Bus pass

Nowcard Bus pass was created by Gentry
I was awarded a PIP award of only 4 points a couple of years ago for the Moving around activity.
Whilst I did not agree with this my overall Daily living standard rate award year wise seemed ok , plus I felt could not go through another meeting like that again at the time.

I had to go alone as my Wife was not well on the day and I felt I was pushed too far walking wise to the Office where the interview took place and was in agony afterwards ( all my fault I know).
Like I say I did not want to go through that again and accepted the standard living rate.

At the time our Local Council accepted a Doctors letter as proof for a concessionary bus pass, so I am able to at least get the Bus now and again and as both myself and my Wife do not drive this was a Godsend.

I have now read that 8 points are now needed for the concessionary bus pass and a Doctors note will not be accepted but "A brief letter or report detailing your condition and the effect on your mobility from an independent medical specialist.".

I have osteoarthritis in the knees and what the Hospital diagnosed X ray wise as a Bony Spur on my Ankle(s), my ankle will just give way without warning leaving me unable to move for several minutes but then be ok after roughly 10 minutes resting it.

Should I now re-apply and risk losing my PIP award or should I request to see a Hospital Specialist regarding my knees and ankle and maybe that would that be acceptable as proof?.

Just asking for advice really please as without the Bus pass I won`t be able to get to the local shops let alone into Town unless by Taxi.

All my written evidence was ignored as I could actually walk, albeit slowly, not that I can get as far as they stated.
It seems to me unless you drive you are forgotten travel wise.

Thanks for any help.

It has to be your decision whether to report a change in your conditions, to score higher you are going to need to show that your walking is now restricted to 50m or less, remember you need to be able to do this reliably and on the majority of days.

Reporting a change will result in a full reassessment of your claim, a new form and almost certainly a face to face assessment.

If you want to pursue the matter then write to DWP office dealing with your claim with details of the change.
