Appeal after being moved from SG to WRAG was created by JoeB
My son received a private letter of support from GP after explaining about having to appeal. He agrees he is unable to work or attend work activity sessions without stress which will affect his condition, he has MS. Unfortunately, he has stated he 'can not' walk more than a few yards 'with out' his stick. I am sure the DWP will pounce on this as he 'can' walk much further with it which is untrue. As wording is so important to the DWP I think my son should go back to the GP and point out the error or just leave it as he seems to think as this is wearing him out. Anyone any advice from anyone? should he go back to the GP?

I would approach the GP about changing it, but be aware this may have been what they meant to say.
Also, in case you are not aware, ESA is not a walking test, it is a Mobility test! In addition to your walking it considers your ability to self-propel a manual wheelchair over the same distances, you do not need to be using a wheelchair or even to own one for it to be considered. SO even if you can show your walking is restricted, unless you can also show that you cannot self-propel the wheelchair you will still not score points.

Thanks for the reply. The GP was to be happy to help so think he may not have realised how crucial the wording is.
The 'health professional' states in the report that it is obvious he can't propel a wheelchair due to the weakness in his hands and arm. Just a way to get him out of the support group and save money. The health professional also thinks he will be better after 12 months!! Don't think she knows much about Multiple Sclerosis.
