it just seems insane that I can appeal to a tribunal if I think the mandatory reconsideration is wrong, but I cannot appeal to a tribunal if some DWP lunatics ends my benefits without ever giving me the chance to do anything about it.

Schopenhauer

I would start by contacting your MP, they have a better chance of unravelling what is going on with your ESA claim, ICE will simply come back to you about you not having completed the DWP's own complaint process, you may be able to argue your way past this, but it won't be easy and it will take time.

ok, the MP replied quite quickly and is asking for more information. I have some old complaints that I sent to the DWP that were never replied to, one is 4 years old. Do you think they are too old? I never wrote to an MP before so I don't want to 'push my luck' as my recent complaints are already several. Any advice? Thanks

I would not bother with a complaint from four years ago, stick to the current issues.

ok, so 2 months ago the MP wrote back and accepted to enquire about all the problems I have had with the benefits. He wrote that if he needed any more info from me, that he would let me know. Then I have heard nothing more from him. Should I still wait? Any ideas about what I should do about the 'silence' ? Thanks

I think that 2 months is more than a reasonable period to have waited, I would contact your MP for an update.
