Bringing notes to assessment was created by J
Hi,

sorry for another question. My assessment is in two days and I am a mess, but I'd like to say thank you so much for answering my other queries.

I understand you can take notes to your assessment to help you from various forums (although I hadn't even thought of it) - if I do so will this be held against me (like can grip paper, or can read from paper)? I struggle with brain fog due to medication but also dissociative states (and sedation from meds) can make it extremely hard to remember things. Because it's more than one condition I am worry I will forget what I need to say or may be rushed. What is best practice? Or should I get my mum to have the notes instead in case I miss something?

Many thanks

Whilst you can take notes to the assessment, if you can avoid using them then it would be better as assumptions will be made if you do.

The sort of assumptions like I can plan for something therefore I am stable and the like? Jesus there's no winning!

JP,

I think* there could also be an assumption that a claimant will know how their own illness affects them and would only need notes if they were having to remind themselves of things they said that were not completely true.

Hence the suggestion that you make it absolutely clear why you are using the notes.

* Note, this is just my reading of the situation
